Reimagining a building numerous developers had passed on due to the difficulties of a flat, static, and overall bland building, MODULUS envisioned a dynamic and lively building along a revitalized row - now known as a premier location for tenancy and portfolio asset. The strongest modification in implementing the concept of layering the existing façade with depth and variation, versus demolishing and redoing, is the simple and technically precise translucent glass rain screen enveloping the exterior. The placement of structure and sheathing creates a blanket to the mass of the existing and in combination with warm, sustainable accoya wood both inside and out – creates a building of depth, desire, materiality, and an ever changing appearance and reflection throughout the day.

Using the simplicity of the protein molecule itself, a rhythm and order was established that formed a coherent approach towards the spatial development of the interior. White washed accoya, carmelized bamboo, inlaid tile, indoor/outdoor pavers, and a custom designed thin profile reception stand complete the subtle statement of the lobby, tinged by colors drawn from the corporate identity
Varied levels of translucency and transparency in the glass rain screen reflect the sky dynamically throughout day and season, while still creating a clearly integrated vision layer. A successful architectural transformation that makes a tired building a new silicon valley jewel.
